Four Holy Beasts Symbols

0 minutes, 34 seconds Read

The ancient Chinese discovered 28 constellations in the night sky and used them as symbols for observing stars. In Chinese Taoism, these 28 constellations are evenly divided into four groups, each shaped like four animals: Qinglong, Baihu, Zhuque, and Xuanwu (a mixture of turtles and snakes). Qinglong is the god of the East, symbolizing spring and possessing the power of growth and development; The White Tiger is the god of the West, symbolizing autumn and having the power to eliminate sanctions; Vermilion sparrow is the god of the south, symbolizing summer and possessing the power of radiating light and heat; Xuanwu is the god of the north, symbolizing winter and possessing the power of water.
